Mexico's top media companies are working to keep grisly images from TV screens as the nation faces growing threats from organised crime.Mexico's news media offers a daily dose of photographs and videos of victims of drug violence, including beheadings, hangings and torture victims. The gruesome events are designed to terrorise the public and intimidate authorities. The news groups have pledged to "always present information in the right context and proportion" and to report how the situation compares with other regions and countries.President Felipe Calderon often complains that homicide rates are higher in Brazil or New Orleans than in Mexico.
