Digital TVs in the home remain relatively rare, but the concept has made a splash in auto entertainment. The HiTV Pure (www.hitv.com.au) is a digital receiver designed for cars. Housed in a compact 1.4-kilogram box that can be tucked away under the passenger seat or in the glove box, the HiTV Pure delivers DVD-quality television

thanks to the higher resolution of digital broadcasts. It also features twin tuner technology to keep reception clear when the car is travelling at speed or changing directions.

It works like an A/V receiver by allowing additional inputs such as DVD players, GPS or even a PS2. An infrared remote is included, but you'll need to supply your own LCD screen. The HiTV Pure sells for $1100.
